OUR STORY

We grew up together in the small tranquil town of Attendorn in the deepest Sauerland (Germany). It was a nice but hard childhood because we had a lot of forest. Oh, but there was also some forest. Wait, now I that I think about it…we also had even more forest. No cinema, no disco and no system catering like McDonalds or Kentucky Fried Chicken. So basically it was a town where there main objective to ensure we did not have any fun.

Therefore, early on, it pulled us into the wide world, e.g. in the 15km distant Olpe, Plettenberg (20km) or even to Gummersbach (30km). To us, this was like a far off land. It was like visiting Narnia…or the moon…except for the fact if we really wanted to, we could bike there.

We have always been very spontaneous. In the summer of 2006, when Rene reached his 18th birthday, we discovered a golden Audi 100. 1 week before the summer holidays, we bought it for 350 EUR. Without booking accommodation with only 200 EUR budget each, we drove to Hungary next weekend to Lake Balaton. There “we let the dos out”. Although we had hardly any money but it was one of the best vacations of our lives.

This was followed by numerous other joint holidays in Germany, Bulgaria, Holland, Italy or the Czech Republic. If there is one thing I learned about Rene, he always treats people like family. Especially me. On every trip we’ve been on he always asks me to buy him drinks and lend him money. What a guy.

Rene was always the party type in our circle of friends. When I moved to Dortmund for my studies, he visited me every weekend for many years. We call this time the „DREAMER“ time. The four of us spent every weekend in my “jail cell” (6 square meters bedroom). I always thought he was visiting me because we were such good friends. Maybe there was a little of that, but there was also the fact I could get him into parties. Sure, he loved me, but he really…really loved parties.

We never had much money but I made a promise to myself that if Rene found the right woman for life, he would deserve a special stag party. His stag party must be legendary and no expense should be spared. I had always planned to spend an unforgettable night with our friends in the casinos of Atlantic City. But when I saw the movie Hangover, I want that Rene would have earned a stag party in Vegas, of course. Watching Hangover was like an amateur version of what I know Rene would be capable of on an all night party weekend.

To be serious for a moment: Rene is a kind-hearted person, always in a good mood and generous. He grew up without a father and started working early, also to support his mother financially. He recently became a father himself and now saves for his wedding.

That he finally found a suitable woman for life makes me really happy. However, he needs a proper farewell for his party times but I am absolutely broke and have no way to organize a stag party as he deserves.

Believe me, if I could straight up afford it myself I’d personally get him a unicorn, a solid gold antique knight suit, a private jet and a meeting with the Pope and Kanye West, just for fun.

As Renes witness to his marriage, I want to give him a casino night in the USA. Actually an impossible task. But nothing is impossible. Especially not in the US, in the land of opportunity.
